International Cooperation Relations

  International cooperation is one of the strategic priorities of Samarkand State Medical University (SamSMU) and is carried out in accordance with the University's development strategy aimed at strengthening its position in the global educational and scientific community. Internationalization contributes to improving the quality of medical education, expanding research activities, promoting academic mobility, and fostering international academic partnerships.

  The University's internationalization strategy focuses on increasing the enrollment of international students, developing joint educational and research projects with leading foreign universities and research institutions, expanding academic mobility programs for students and faculty members, promoting international scientific collaboration, and implementing joint educational programs, including double-degree programs.

  Today, Samarkand State Medical University maintains active cooperation with more than 60 international organizations, foreign universities, and research centers. These partnerships are based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, academic exchange, and scientific collaboration. The University continues to strengthen cooperation with higher education institutions across Europe, Asia, North America, and the CIS countries through joint educational programs, collaborative research, and academic mobility initiatives.

  Each year, SamSMU welcomes an increasing number of distinguished professors, researchers, healthcare professionals, and students from abroad. They visit the University to participate in scientific conferences, deliver lectures, conduct joint research, undertake professional training, and establish long-term academic partnerships. Likewise, the University's faculty members and students actively participate in international conferences, exchange programs, and collaborative research projects.

  The Department of Psychiatry, Medical Psychology and Narcology makes a significant contribution to the University's international activities. Faculty members actively participate in international scientific conferences, publish research in peer-reviewed international journals, and collaborate with leading foreign universities and research institutions in the fields of psychiatry, medical psychology, narcology, and related disciplines.

  International Partners

  The Department maintains academic and research cooperation with more than 10 leading universities and research institutions worldwide, including:

  • Bashkir State Medical University;
  • Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University;
  • Faculty of Medicine, I.N. Ulyanov Chuvash State University;
  • S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University;
  • Belarusian State Medical University;
  • Izhevsk State Medical Academy;
  • Altai State Medical University.

  A notable example of successful international cooperation was the official visit of a delegation from Altai State Medical University to Samarkand State Medical University on September 6–8, 2023. The delegation was headed by Professor Irina Sheremetyeva, Rector of Altai State Medical University, and included Professor Alexey Rezinkin, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Digital Transformation.

  During the visit, the representatives discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in medical education, scientific research, academic mobility for students and faculty, joint scientific conferences, publication activities, and the implementation of international educational projects.

  The Department remains committed to strengthening international partnerships, expanding collaborative research, and promoting academic exchange, thereby contributing to the continuous improvement of medical education and the University's integration into the global academic community.
