Pursuant to Order No. 40-AF of the Rector of Samarkand State Medical University dated February 16, 2026, the Career Center was established and the Regulations governing its activities were approved. The Center operates under the supervision of the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.
The Center is staffed with 3.0 full-time positions. Its personnel organize “Career Days” and “Open Dialogue with Employers” events, assist students in preparing résumés and developing interview skills, and facilitate internships and practical training at clinical bases as well as public and private healthcare institutions.
The Career Center of Samarkand State Medical University operates to ensure the implementation of the Resolution “On Approval of the Regulation on Targeted Training of Personnel Based on State Grants” adopted by the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, the Ministry of Public Education, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Uzbekistan (registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan on August 6, 2005, under No. 1506), the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 769 dated September 27, 2017, “On Measures for Further Improvement of Medical Personnel Training,” the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-61 dated February 14, 2025, “On Additional Measures to Support the Employment of Higher Education Graduates,” and the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 615 dated September 30, 2025, “On Measures for the Digitalization of Internship and Employment Systems for Graduates of Higher and Vocational Education Institutions.”
In its activities, the Center is guided by the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Education,” the Labor Code, the Code of Ethics, decrees and resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers, decisions and orders of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the Ministry of Health, resolutions of the University Council, the University's Internal Regulations, administrative orders, and other regulatory legal acts. Within its authority, the Center reports directly to the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.
The Center develops and submits proposals for implementing the University’s strategic initiatives in the educational services market. To improve the University's ranking, it monitors the number of graduates of bachelor's, master's, and clinical residency programs and tracks their employment outcomes. Graduates are regularly provided with updated information on job vacancies available in public and private organizations and institutions. The Center serves as a structural unit of the University responsible for preventing bureaucratic barriers, generating analytical information, and optimizing decision-making processes.
In accordance with Resolution No. 769 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated September 27, 2017, the Center contributes to the further development of the continuous professional education system for healthcare workers, helps meet the demand of healthcare institutions for qualified medical personnel, and supports the improvement of healthcare service quality.
The Center’s primary objectives include assisting students in career development and professional growth, preparing competitive specialists, facilitating employment opportunities, creating appropriate conditions for partner organizations to conduct student recruitment activities at least twice a month, developing students’ knowledge and skills in job searching and interview techniques, organizing and supervising a specialized online course entitled “Career Development,” and strengthening cooperation between students and employers.
The Center also promotes the consolidation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired during studies, enhances competencies gained through laboratory, seminar, and practical training sessions, familiarizes students with organizational and operational processes as well as modern technologies used in healthcare institutions, and develops their ability to apply such technologies independently in professional practice.
