"Med Talk" Intellectual Debates Held at Samarkand State Medical University
The "Med Talk" intellectual debates were held at Samarkand State Medical University with the aim of fostering socio-political engagement and honing analytical thinking skills among youth.
The event was organized at the initiative of the university's Department for Organizing Research Activities of Gifted Students. A total of eight student teams participated, with the rounds conducted in Uzbek and Russian (four teams per language division).
Throughout the debates, participants tackled critical social and global challenges drawn from the United Nations (UN) agenda. During rigorous deliberative rounds, students effectively demonstrated competencies in evidence-based argumentation, critical reasoning, collaborative teamwork, and articulate public discourse before a large audience.
Such intellectual initiatives not only advance future healthcare professionals' clinical perspective, but also expand their awareness of international affairs and empower them to articulate reasoned positions on pressing societal issues with clarity and confidence.
As acknowledged in the closing remarks, the "Med Talk" platform proved to be an invaluable venue for students to exchange peer insights, share innovative ideas, and engage in constructive academic debate.
