The educational and methodological activities of the Department of Psychiatry, Medical Psychology and Narcology at Samarkand State Medical University are aimed at preparing highly qualified healthcare professionals equipped with modern professional competencies, clinical reasoning skills, and practical experience in accordance with national and international educational standards.

  The Department provides undergraduate education for students of several faculties, including the Faculty of General Medicine (5th year), Faculty of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medical Prevention (3rd–4th years), Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Traditional Medicine, and the Faculty of International Education (2nd–5th years).

  The Department offers instruction in the following disciplines:

  In addition to undergraduate education, the Department provides postgraduate training through Master's degree and Clinical Residency programs, preparing highly qualified specialists in psychiatry, medical psychology, and narcology.

  The educational process is organized in accordance with the State Educational Standards of the Republic of Uzbekistan, approved curricula, qualification requirements for graduates, and official educational programs. The development of educational and methodological materials takes into account current regulations of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, modern clinical protocols, national standards for diagnosis and treatment, and recommendations issued by leading international professional organizations.

  According to the approved academic schedule, faculty members regularly conduct open lectures, practical classes, workshops, and methodological seminars aimed at improving the quality of education and introducing innovative teaching approaches into the educational process.

  The Department possesses a modern educational infrastructure. Classrooms are equipped with multimedia systems, computers, television panels, and telecommunication technologies that enable the effective use of educational videos, multimedia presentations, electronic learning resources, and interactive teaching materials. In addition, the Department has developed a centralized digital database of clinical images, illustrations, and educational materials covering all areas of the curriculum and ensuring a standardized approach to teaching.

  Considerable attention is also given to students' independent learning. The Department maintains a specialized library containing more than 30 titles of educational literature in English, Uzbek, and Russian. The electronic library includes textbooks, atlases, teaching manuals, methodological guidelines, clinical handbooks, scientific publications, and other educational resources essential for high-quality medical education.

  Clinical training represents an integral component of the educational process. Practical classes are conducted at the Samarkand Regional Psychiatric Hospital, the Psychoneurological Dispensary, and the Day Care Psychiatric Unit. Under the supervision of experienced faculty members, students participate in patient care, learn methods of psychiatric examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and rehabilitation of patients with mental and behavioral disorders. This clinical training enables students to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience while developing professional competencies and clinical decision-making skills.
