DEPARTMENT HISTORY


  In 1997, under the leadership of Professor A.M. Shamsiev, a pediatric surgery course of the Faculty for Advanced Training of Physicians was organized at the Department of Hospital Pediatric Surgery. (Order of the Rector of SamTI dated June 17, 1997 No. 147) the first head of the course was appointed Associate Professor of Medical Sciences Sh.A. Yusupov, Associate Professor of the course was appointed N.R. Mamurov, and the head of academic affairs was appointed Associate Professor of Medical Sciences Sh.A. M.S. Meliyeva was appointed.

  Since 2002, B.A. Yuldashev, Candidate of Medical Sciences, has been appointed as Assistant for Academic Affairs.

  From 2005, J.A. Shamsiev, PhD, Associate Professor, was appointed to the position of course director.

  In the first years of the course's activity, advanced training courses were held for 2.5 months, followed by specialization in pediatric surgery for 6 months, as well as advanced training cycles for 2 and 1 month.

  Since 2013, the pediatric surgery course of the SamMI postgraduate education faculty has been combined with pediatric anesthesiology and resuscitation courses, and the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Resuscitation has been established. To date, MD, Professor J.A. Shamsiev, heads the department.

  Currently, at this department, MD, Professor J.A.Shamsiev, PhD, Associate Professor S.S. Zayniyev, PhD. Z.M. Makhmudov, PhD. E.S. Daniyarov, assistants Zh.T. Dusyarov, Zh.O. Unabaev.

  The Department of Pediatric Surgery, Anesthesiology and Resuscitation of the faculty of postgraduate training of doctors of SamSMU is located on the basis of the Specialized Children's Surgical Clinic of SamSMU. This clinic has 200 beds that meet modern requirements. The center houses pediatric thoracic surgery, urology, emergency and purulent surgery, cardiac surgery, planned surgery, inguinal surgery, anesthesiology and resuscitation, and a one-day surgical inpatient and diagnostic center. For educational work, the clinic has a conference hall, 6 classrooms, a computer room connected to the Internet, and a library.

  The activities of the department are also aimed at improving the qualifications of therapists of the Samarkand region and other neighboring regions, training them in new examination methods.

  Over the course of its activities, the department has trained more than 1,000 pediatric surgeons and 1,500 pediatric anesthesiologists-resuscitators.


SPIRITUAL-EDUCATIONAL WORK


  Each teacher conducts educational work with the physician-students. In particular, based on the plan drawn up at the department, spirituality lessons are held every Thursday and recorded in the journal. The department's instructors visit the dormitories to check on the doctor-students' well-being and living conditions. There is a corner of spirituality and enlightenment in the department. All prerequisites exist for the improvement of a philosophical worldview. It has become customary to visit the city's landmarks and historical monuments together with medical students. The department staff organized 5 lectures in organizations and 2 presentations in the mass media. Department staff also actively participate in university community work. 

  A medical examination was conducted on the children of the orphanage assigned to the department. Charity and gifts are being given to the pupils.


EDUCATIONAL-METHODOLOGICAL WORK


  Educational and methodological work at the department is organized on the basis of educational regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Including:

  According to the approved plan of educational and methodological work, 6-month streams were conducted during the reporting period. In the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, 192 doctors were required according to the plan. During the reporting period, 185 doctors improved their qualifications.

  At the department, students' knowledge is monitored through daily surveys, problem-solving, tests, the "Moodle" electronic learning system, and discussion methods.

  In practical classes, students participate in patient examinations, actively participate in surgeries and dressing changes. Various operations are performed in the treatment room. During the reporting period, the qualification work was protected. The students were on duty at the clinic and actively participated in clinical and pathoanatomical conferences.

  In the academic year, the basic knowledge of the students is 83%. By the end of their studies, their knowledge reaches 96-98%. Practical skills mastery index - 1.0 A rating screen is created for each stream of listeners, showing their knowledge. The Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Training of SamMI has the necessary training programs for pediatric surgery, anesthesiology, and resuscitation - 7 for PHCs, therapists of RHU, family polyclinics, and other narrow specialists.

  For the training of students, there are lecture materials in the form of presentations, a plan of practical classes, tests, and a list of practical skills.

  The lectures will be delivered by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor J.A. Shamsiev. Practical classes and seminars will be conducted by assistants S.S.Zayniev, E.S.Daniyarov, A.M.Isakov, Z.M.Makhmudov, Zh.T.Dusyarov, Zh.O.Unabayev.

  Assessment of students' knowledge is carried out in a rating system. Current control is conducted through oral questioning and practical work during training. In recent years, 3 monographs have been published for the audience.


RESEARCH WORK


  In 2025, the department will have 7 scientific and pedagogical staff, including 1 professor, 1 associate professor, and 3 candidates of technical sciences. 1 senior lecturer, 2 assistants and

  • 2 of them work as independent researchers. 5 of the employees have academic degrees.
  • Academic degrees constitute 71.4%. Assistants without academic degrees: up to 40 years old - 2 people.
  • Under the leadership of Professor J.A. Shamsiev, 5 PhD dissertations were defended.
  • In 2025, 18 scientific papers were published at the department.
