DEPARTMENT HISTORY

  In 1997, under the leadership of Professor A.M. Shamsiyev, the pediatric surgery course of the Faculty of Advanced Training of Physicians was established at the Department of Hospital Pediatric Surgery. (Order No. 147 of the Rector of SamTI dated June 17, 1997) The first head of the course was appointed Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Sh.A. Yusupov, the course associate professor was N.R. Mamurov, and the person responsible for educational affairs was Candidate of Medical Sciences M.S. Meliyeva.

  Since 2002, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Assistant, and since 2005, B.A. Yuldashev has been appointed as the person responsible for educational affairs.

  Since 2005, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor J.A. Shamsiyev has been appointed to the position of course head.

  In the first years of the course's activity, 2.5-month advanced training courses were conducted, later 6-month specialization in pediatric surgery, as well as 2 and 1-month advanced training cycles.

  Since 2013, the pediatric surgery course of the SamTI Faculty of Postgraduate Education has been merged with the pediatric anesthesiology and resuscitation courses, pediatric

  The Department of Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Reanimatology was established. Until today, the department has been headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Professor J.A. Shamsiyev.

  Currently, at this department, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Professor J.A. Shamsiyev, Associate Professor A.M. Isakov, Candidate of Medical Sciences Z.M. Maxmudov, assistants E.S. Daniyarov, K.R. Babayarov, J.T. Dusyarov, J.O. Unabayev are working. The department is located at the base of SamTI 2nd Clinic.

  The department's activities are also aimed at improving the qualifications of therapist-doctors in Samarkand region and other neighboring regions, teaching them new examination methods.

  During its activity, the department has trained more than 2500 pediatric surgeons and 1500 pediatric anesthesiologist-reanimatologists.

SPIRITUAL-EDUCATIONAL WORK

  Every Thursday of the week, 'Spirituality and Enlightenment' hours are held at the department.

  News related to the society's socio-economic and political life, normative -legal documents, namely the orders and decisions of the President of the Republic and the Cabinet of Ministers are studied. Department staff have been actively participating in all events held at the institute. In the regions and districts, department staff (Q.R. Babayarov) are actively participating in the prevention and treatment of the Covid-19 pandemic.

EDUCATIONAL-METHODOLOGICAL WORK

  Educational and methodological work at the department is organized on the basis of educational regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Including:

  According to the approved plan of educational and methodological work, 6-month streams were conducted during the reporting period. In the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, 192 doctors were required according to the plan. During the reporting period, 185 doctors improved their qualifications.

  At the department, students' knowledge is monitored through daily surveys, problem-solving, tests, the "Moodle" electronic learning system, and discussion methods.

  In practical classes, students participate in patient examinations, actively participate in surgeries and dressing changes. Various operations are performed in the treatment room. During the reporting period, the qualification work was protected. The students were on duty at the clinic and actively participated in clinical and pathoanatomical conferences.

  In the academic year, the basic knowledge of the students is 83%. By the end of their studies, their knowledge reaches 96-98%. Practical skills mastery index - 1.0 A rating screen is created for each stream of listeners, showing their knowledge. The Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Training of SamMI has the necessary training programs for pediatric surgery, anesthesiology, and resuscitation - 7 for PHCs, therapists of RHU, family polyclinics, and other narrow specialists.

  For the training of students, there are lecture materials in the form of presentations, a plan of practical classes, tests, and a list of practical skills.

  The lectures will be delivered by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor J.A. Shamsiev. Practical classes and seminars will be conducted by assistants S.S.Zayniev, E.S.Daniyarov, A.M.Isakov, Z.M.Makhmudov, Zh.T.Dusyarov, Zh.O.Unabayev.

  Assessment of students' knowledge is carried out in a rating system. Current control is conducted through oral questioning and practical work during training. In recent years, 3 monographs have been published for the audience.

RESEARCH WORK

  In 2021, 7 employees worked at the department. Of these, 3 employees are doctors and candidates of medical sciences; 4 without degrees. The department's scientific potential is 43%. The department's scientific direction consists of congenital defects of the chest cavity and abdominal cavity, treatment of echinococcosis diseases in children.

  In the 2020-2021 academic year, 89 scientific works (5 educational-methodical recommendations, 4 computer certificates, 30 articles and 50 theses) were published by the department's professors and teachers. From the works published in Scopus and Web of Science journals – 6 articles, 11 articles and 36 theses in foreign and CIS publications, 9 articles and 13 theses in republican publications.

  Department employees participated in 6 international scientific conferences during the year and were awarded certificates. 12 clinical residents are studying at the department. Clinical residents are engaged in research works in accordance with the department's scientific direction.

  The department's main scientific direction: congenital defects in children, echinococcosis in children, chronic lung diseases and others diagnostic problems, clinical course and treatment features. 4 candidate dissertations are being carried out in this direction.

  During its activity, 8 monographs, more than 40 methodological and scientific developments, more than 600 scientific articles have been published by the department employees. 7 inventions have been developed.
