On December 30, the final Academic Council meeting of the year was held at Samarkand State Medical University. The meeting was opened by the Rector of the University, Jasur Rizayev, who delivered an opening address, congratulated the staff on the upcoming year 2026, and wished everyone success in their scientific, professional, and personal endeavors.
The Academic Council meeting began with a review of the year’s outcomes, including discussions on completed activities, achieved results, and newly created opportunities. Throughout 2025, Samarkand State Medical University achieved significant progress in scientific, practical, educational, and organizational areas.
As a result of these efforts, the University was впервые included among the world’s top 1,000 higher education institutions (ranking range 601–800) in the THE Impact Rankings 2025, published by one of the world’s most reputable international ranking organizations, Times Higher Education (THE). This achievement opens broad international opportunities for the University’s graduates.
In the field of education, a number of new benefits and opportunities were created for students, enabling them to successfully participate in and win awards at regional, national, and international competitions and contests. During the year, the University also hosted numerous national and international scientific and practical conferences, Olympiads, and student summer schools.
Considerable progress was also made in international cooperation. In 2025, Samarkand State Medical University signed several memoranda of cooperation with educational institutions and clinical bases from various countries. Significant achievements were attained in implementing joint educational programs within the framework of international partnerships.
Throughout the year, the University’s faculty members and medical staff enhanced their professional qualifications abroad under academic mobility programs. Notable successes were also achieved in practical medicine.
During the Academic Council meeting, certificates and diplomas were awarded to faculty members who had obtained academic degrees. In addition, on the occasion of Medical Workers’ Day, special diplomas and statuettes were presented to winners of nomination-based competitions held among the University’s faculty members.
