  The Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry actively operates a Student Scientific Research Club (SSRC), aimed at developing students’ scientific thinking, research skills, independent work with scientific literature, experimental skills, data analysis, and preparation of scientific publications.

  The activities of the Scientific Research Club are organized in accordance with the main research areas of the Department. Students have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical research, participate in scientific and practical conferences, seminars, competitions, and other academic events. The academic staff of the Department provide students with scientific and methodological guidance in selecting research topics, searching and analyzing scientific literature, planning experiments, processing research results, formulating conclusions, and preparing scientific articles and conference abstracts.

  Main Research Areas of the Student Scientific Research Club

  1. Toxicological Chemistry

  Within this area, students study topical problems related to poisoning by ethyl alcohol and alcoholic beverages, as well as carbon monoxide (CO) in domestic and occupational settings. Particular attention is paid to the chemical and toxicological aspects of poisoning, methods for detecting toxic substances in biological materials, modern toxicological analytical methods, and approaches to the prevention of poisoning.

  2. Pharmaceutical Analysis

  This area focuses on the qualitative and quantitative determination of medicinal products using refractometric methods, evaluation of the accuracy and reliability of analytical results, and practical applications of refractometry in pharmaceutical analysis. Students study the physicochemical properties of medicinal substances and acquire practical skills in the application of modern instrumental analytical methods.

  3. Pharmaceutical Chemistry

  Research in this area focuses on the chemical, physicochemical, and microbiological properties of pharmaceutical preparations in the form of ointments. Students investigate the composition of ointments, active pharmaceutical ingredients, physical properties, storage stability, microbiological purity, and major quality-control parameters of pharmaceutical dosage forms.

  4. Organic Synthesis

  Within this research area, students study the synthesis of isoquinoline derivatives and other biologically active organic compounds, as well as their chemical structures, physicochemical properties, and potential biological activities. Students become familiar with modern organic synthesis methods, reaction conditions, isolation and purification techniques, and methods for identification and characterization of synthesized compounds.

  Main Objectives of the Student Scientific Research Club

The following activities are given particular attention:

  • involving students in scientific and research activities;
  • identifying talented and highly motivated students with an interest in research;
  • introducing students to modern laboratory and instrumental research methods;
  • developing skills in independent work with scientific literature and electronic scientific databases;
  • teaching students how to prepare scientific articles, abstracts, reports, and other academic materials;
  • preparing students for participation in national and international scientific and practical conferences;
  • involving students in scientific projects and research activities;
  • developing skills in the processing, analysis, and interpretation of experimental data;
  • promoting the integration of students’ research findings into the educational process;
  • strengthening scientific cooperation between students, master’s students, and the academic staff of the Department.

  The above indicators demonstrate the consistent development of the Student Scientific Research Club and the growing research activity of students. A particularly noticeable increase in the number of scientific articles and conference materials was recorded during the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 academic years, reflecting students’ increasing interest in scientific research and their active participation in academic and scientific events. 

  Overall, the Student Scientific Research Club of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry serves as an important scientific and educational platform for developing students’ research potential, strengthening theoretical knowledge through practical research, developing independent scientific skills, and preparing future highly qualified specialists and scientific and academic personnel.
