The Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry was established and approved in 2022 by the decision of the Academic Council of Samarkand State Medical University as part of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The establishment of the Department was aimed at improving the quality of professional training in pharmacy, enhancing the teaching of chemical disciplines, and developing scientific research in the fields of pharmaceutical and toxicological chemistry.

  At present, the Department provides instruction in the major professional disciplines of the pharmacy program. Third-year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy study Pharmaceutical Chemistry; fourth-year students study Toxicological Chemistry and Organic Synthesis; and fifth-year students study Pharmaceutical Analysis. The Department also provides specialized courses for master's students in accordance with their respective educational programs.

  Prior to the establishment of the independent Department, these disciplines were taught by other departments of the University. In particular, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Toxicological Chemistry were taught by the Department of Medical Chemistry, while Pharmaceutical Analysis was taught by the Department of Pharmacognosy. The integration of these academic areas within a single department has helped ensure continuity in the educational process, strengthen the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and create favorable conditions for the further development of scientific and methodological activities.

  Currently, the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry is located on the fourth floor of Block C of the new building of Samarkand State Medical University. The Department continues to develop its educational and methodological resources, introduce modern methods of chemical analysis and synthesis into the educational process, and focus on training highly qualified specialists for the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
