The Department of Hygiene was established in accordance with the decision of the Academic Council of Samarkand State Medical University dated September 5, 2022 (Protocol No. 1). According to this decision, the former Department of General Hygiene and Ecology was separated, and on its basis, an independent structural unit – the Department of Hygiene – was created.
The establishment of an independent department contributed to the development and improvement of both the educational process and scientific research in the fields of preventive medicine, public health, and environmental hygiene. As a result of this decision, students were able to study the main areas of hygiene science in greater depth, and the scope of scientific research within the department significantly expanded.
The beginning of the department’s independent activities became an important step not only in the educational process of the university but also in the development of the regional healthcare system and in raising the sanitary and hygienic awareness of the population. Since its foundation, the department has been successfully fulfilling its mission, actively participating in the training of qualified specialists in hygiene, deepening scientific research, and advancing preventive medicine.
