After the introduction of one of the most innovative practices in 2023 at the specialized scientific and practical Center for Neurosurgery and Neurorehabilitation at Samarkand State Medical University - the operation to insert chips (electrodes) into deep structures of the brain in Parkinson's disease (Deep Brain Stimulation), the center's team regularly participates in various reputable events.
From March 20 to March 25 this year, the 9th Asian and Oceanian Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Congress (AOPMC) was held in Tokyo (Japan). Representatives of our university also took part in this congress.
The congress discussed the etiology, pathogenetic factors, clinic, diagnosis, methods of conservative and surgical treatment, as well as rehabilitation for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, including the latest achievements and problems in this field. The experience of our center was presented at the congress. The young specialists of the delegation were also able to gain new practical skills and knowledge at the training courses included in the program of the event.
During the visit to Japan, the center's delegation also visited the neurosurgery department of the Bantan Hospital of the Fujita Medical University in Nagoya, where a meeting was held with the head of the department, President of the Congress of Asian Neurosurgeons, Professor Yoko Kato. During the meeting, an agreement was reached to sign a memorandum of cooperation between this institution and the specialized scientific and practical center for Neurosurgery and neurorehabilitation at SamSMU. Within the framework of this cooperation, young specialists of our center will be able to undergo short-term and long-term (3 and 6 months) training advanced training courses based on preferential scholarships at the neurosurgical department of the Bantan Hospital of Fujita Medical University, as well as leading Japanese specialists will conduct master classes at SamSMU.
