Clinical Practice

  Clinical practice at Samarkand State Medical University is organized in accordance with contemporary medical education requirements and internationally recognized standards. It is designed to prepare knowledgeable, practice-oriented, responsible, and globally competitive physicians equipped to meet the evolving challenges of modern healthcare.

  At the initial stage of training, students develop essential practical competencies at the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center, where they receive hands-on training in a safe and controlled environment using advanced medical simulators, anatomical models, and high-fidelity manikins. The program covers resuscitation and critical care, emergency medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and a wide range of other clinical disciplines.

  During the subsequent stages of education, students undertake clinical rotations at the University's teaching hospitals, specialized medical centers, multidisciplinary hospitals, and primary healthcare institutions under the supervision of experienced faculty members and practicing physicians. Throughout these clinical placements, students participate in patient examinations, medical history taking, interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic findings, clinical diagnosis, and patient management.

  Clinical training places strong emphasis on developing clinical reasoning through participation in case discussions, multidisciplinary consultations, the application of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) principles, and adherence to internationally recognized clinical guidelines. This approach strengthens students' analytical thinking, professional judgment, and independent clinical decision-making skills.

  Digital technologies constitute an integral component of clinical education. Students gain practical experience in the use of telemedicine services, medical information systems, artificial intelligence-assisted healthcare technologies, as well as national digital healthcare solutions, including the DMED platform introduced by the Ministry of Health for primary healthcare institutions, electronic prescription systems, and other digital health technologies.

  Practical training is continuously monitored and assessed through modern competency-based evaluation methods. Students' clinical skills, professional competencies, communication abilities, and practical performance are regularly evaluated, while their individual progress is systematically monitored throughout the educational process. In addition, practical competencies are assessed using elements of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), the internationally recognized standard for the objective evaluation of clinical skills.
