On June 12, a delegation led by the Governor of the Italian region of Lombardy, Attilio Fontana, visited the Samarkand region. During the visit, B2B meetings with entrepreneurs of the region were organized and the Samarkand-Lombardy trade, economic, cultural and tourism business forum was held. 

  The international forum was also attended by representatives of Samarkand State Medical University, headed by the rector, Professor Jasur Rizaev. A joint memorandum of understanding on cooperation with the Lombardy region was signed during the forum. 

  Lombardy is one of the most important administrative regions of Italy, accounting for one fifth of Italy's gross domestic product. The region has huge business opportunities in Italy, as well as a rich historical and cultural heritage.
