On March 9, delegation of Samarkand State Medical University led by Rector Zhasur Rizaev visited Baltic Federal University named after I.Kant (Kaliningrad, Russia).
During the negotiations with the administration of BFU headed by Rector Alexander Fedorov, the parties discussed scientific and academic collaboration in the field of bioengineering and signed a relevant agreement. In particular, in the next academic year a joint 3+2 specialisation programme in bioengineering and bioinformatics will be launched, where students receive their first three years of study in Samarkand and then two years in Kaliningrad.
Samarkand State Medical University has strong and established links with BFU. In particular, since 2022, a representative office of Baltic Federal University, which has a solid history and a strong scientific and educational base, has been functioning at Samarkand State Medical University. The office has become a platform for joint research in the field of information technologies and artificial intelligence for medical purposes.
The Samarkand State Medical University delegation also visited a new dental department of the simulation clinic, a swimming pool, dormitories, Student House, a model of the neo-campus "Cantiana" of BFU which is under construction.
