Over the past three years, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology No. 1 of the Faculty of Dentistry at Samarkand State Medical University has carried out extensive spiritual-educational and moral upbringing work. Efforts to raise highly cultured, independently thinking, patriotic young people with a firm outlook on life have been organized at a high level at the department throughout the past academic years.

  Throughout the academic year, all of our future physicians and students studying at the department have been introduced to the works and speeches of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev, the resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers, the materials of the sessions of the Oliy Majlis (Supreme Assembly), and the content and substance of the laws that have been adopted. Open classes and spiritual-educational events dedicated to the state symbols of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the history of the Armed Forces, and the Constitution are regularly held for students at the department.

  Within the framework of the five important initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the video conference held on March 19, 2019 — dedicated to strengthening attention to youth, broadly engaging the younger generation in culture, art, physical education, and sports, developing their skills in the proper use of information technology, promoting reading among young people, and ensuring the employment of women — a range of events has been organized at the department throughout the academic year.

  In order for students to spend their free time in a meaningful way, visits to theaters, cinemas, concerts, and museums were organized. Under the slogans “Theater — a Place of Upbringing” and “A Journey Across the Motherland,” and with the aim of studying our country’s ancient and rich history, promoting it widely among young people, and strengthening their sense of national pride, cultural excursions for faculty and students were organized on the themes “In Memory of Our Ancestors” (to the Alley of Writers and sacred shrines), “Uzbekistan — a Heavenly Land,” “Valley of Happiness,” “Why We Love Uzbekistan,” and “On the Path of Creation.” Faculty members also took part in excursions to historical sites, ancient monuments and places of pilgrimage, and sites reflecting national traditions.

  During the academic year, a “Governor and Youth” meeting was held at the university with the participation of the district governor (hokim), for nearly 150 students and graduates from Narpay district studying there. In the past academic year, 19 of them graduated from the university, and nearly all of them found employment at the district medical association: 14 bachelor's degree graduates and 3 clinical residency and master's degree students were hired. At the meeting, the graduates were first congratulated on their new positions; it was emphasized that they had taken on a highly responsible profession, that they had been entrusted with the important task of safeguarding public health, and that everyone must live up to this trust. Special diplomas and commemorative gifts were solemnly presented to the students who had taken an active part. 

  As part of the department faculty's cooperation with the Abu Ali Ibn Sino Public Health College affiliated with the university, a visit was made to the college, classes were conducted, and mutual experience-sharing activities were carried out.
