Modern education
Today, the healthcare sector demands professionals who possess not only a strong theoretical foundation but also well-developed practical skills, clinical reasoning, proficiency in digital technologies, and the ability to make prompt and effective clinical decisions. For this reason, the educational process at Samarkand State Medical University is organized in accordance with international standards and advanced pedagogical approaches.
The University successfully integrates comprehensive theoretical education with modern practical training. At the internationally standardized Simulation Center, students acquire essential clinical competencies in a safe and controlled learning environment using high-fidelity simulators, 3D anatomical models, and advanced medical manikins. Training covers resuscitation and intensive care, emergency medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, anesthesiology, dentistry, and many other medical specialties.

The educational process actively incorporates innovative teaching methodologies, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Case-Based Learning (CBL), and Team-Based Learning (TBL). These student-centered approaches foster clinical reasoning, teamwork, analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and independent professional decision-making.
The University is also continuously advancing its digital learning environment. Teaching and learning are supported by a modern Learning Management System (LMS), the HEMIS academic information system, electronic educational resources, a digital library, and online assessment platforms. These technologies provide students with uninterrupted access to course materials, video lectures, electronic textbooks, scientific literature, and assessment resources anytime and anywhere.
Students' practical competencies are assessed through the internationally recognized Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). This assessment system ensures an objective evaluation of clinical skills, patient communication, and professional decision-making based on internationally accepted standards and transparent assessment criteria.
In addition, the University consistently expands lectures and masterclasses delivered by distinguished international professors, promotes academic mobility programs, and develops joint educational initiatives with leading foreign universities. Innovative technologies—including artificial intelligence, 3D visualization, digital healthcare, and telemedicine—are being progressively integrated into the educational process, ensuring continuous modernization of medical education.
The modern educational environment established at Samarkand State Medical University enables students to effectively combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience, master advanced medical technologies, and develop into highly qualified, internationally competitive healthcare professionals capable of meeting the evolving demands of the global medical community.
