Visit of Izhevsk State Medical Academy (Russian Federation) delegation to Samarkand State Medical Institute

  Bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan have been rapidly developing in recent years in literally all sectors of the economy, including higher education and health care. The Samarkand State Medical Institute and Izhevsk State Medical Academy are the obvious examples of close cooperation.

  For over 5 years, these institutions of higher medical education have been working closely to develop mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in terms of academic mobility of students and faculty, as well as joint research projects.

  Izhevsk State Medical Academy was founded in 1933 as the first medical higher education institution in the region for development of public health system. Nowadays Izhevsk State Medical Academy, with 4000 students and over 400 professors and lecturers, is one of the leading medical schools in the Russian Federation.

  On April 3-4, 2021 the delegation of Izhevsk State Medical Academy represented by Rector Prof. Alexey Shklyaev and Vice-rector for Additional Professional Education and Medical Activities Mikhail Dudarev paid a working visit to Samarkand State Medical Institute.

   So, negotiations have been conducted with participation of heads of two partner universities within the framework of visit, in particular, the results of joint activity were discussed and the need to expand cooperation was emphasized with current trends in science and education. Thus, discussions were focused on possibilities of training of clinical residents in joint educational programs and scientific workers in basic doctoral studies, implementation of joint programs at bachelor's level, academic mobility of teachers and students, holding scientific and practical conferences and webinars, as well as joint publications of scientific works.

  Close international inter-university cooperation, a striking example of which is the cooperation between Samarkand State Medical Institute and Izhevsk State Medical Academy, contributes to improving the quality of education and developing modern medicine and ensures the implementation of reforms in the healthcare system of our country.
