The international cooperation and internationalization policy of Samarkand State Medical University is aimed at strengthening the university’s position in the global educational and research environment, expanding international relations, and introducing advanced international experience in education and science. In line with these strategic priorities, the Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology No. 2 also places particular emphasis on developing international cooperation in education, research, and clinical medicine. The Department’s internationalization activities are primarily aimed at providing modern and high-quality medical education for international students, implementing international educational standards and advanced teaching technologies in the educational process, and developing cooperation with foreign higher education institutions and research centers.

  The Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology No. 2 places particular emphasis on organizing educational activities for international students based on modern pedagogical approaches, with a focus on developing clinical reasoning, practical skills, and competencies for independent decision-making. The use of modern diagnostic and treatment approaches applied in international medical practice, as well as the integration of clinical protocols into the educational process, are among the important areas of the Department’s activities.

  The Department’s academic staff continuously enhance their professional and scientific capacity by developing cooperation with international colleagues in education and research, and by participating in international scientific and practical conferences, congresses, seminars, and webinars. Exchange of experience with foreign specialists, organization of lectures and master classes, implementation of joint research projects, and publication of scientific articles in international journals are important components of the Department’s international activities.

  Within the framework of international cooperation, the Department places considerable emphasis on studying and implementing modern scientific achievements in internal medicine and cardiology. Particular importance is attached to studying international experience and developing scientific cooperation in the areas of cardiovascular diseases, arterial hypertension, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, cardiorenal syndrome, and other current issues in modern cardiology.

  Particular attention is also given to developing international academic mobility by expanding the academic and scientific links of the Department’s academic staff and young researchers with foreign higher education institutions, clinics, and research centers, as well as by increasing opportunities to participate in professional development courses and internships.

  Through these activities, the Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology No. 2 contributes to strengthening the position of Samarkand State Medical University in the international educational and scientific community, implementing international standards in modern medical education and clinical practice, and preparing competitive and highly qualified medical specialists.

  The academic staff of the Department continuously improve their knowledge and professional skills. Staff members who have completed professional development courses participate with presentations in scientific and practical conferences held in the United States, Estonia, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Russia, Spain, Genoa, and other CIS countries.

  In 2019, the Department’s staff initiated informal cooperation in the field of cardiology with Professor Michael Tendera and the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, which subsequently led to the formalization of a memorandum. In accordance with this memorandum, the first symposium between the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland) and Samarkand State Medical University is planned. A memorandum was signed between the Heart Institute and Samarkand State Medical University, under which a master class and academic mobility program were conducted for master’s and clinical residency students specializing in cardiology by Professor Boris Mikhailovich Todurov, Director of the Heart Institute, Honored Physician of Ukraine, and Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Endovascular and Extracorporeal Technologies at the P. L. Shupyk National Medical Academy. In accordance with the memorandum between the universities, academic mobility with Izhevsk State Medical Academy was conducted under the supervision of Professor Nikolai Ivanovich Maksimov, Head of the Department of Hospital Therapy, Cardiology, Functional Diagnostics, Professional Development, and the Prenatal Care Course. Professor Eleonora Negmatovna Tashkenbayeva conducted academic mobility in the discipline of Internal Medicine for students of the Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul Medeniyet University. The Department’s staff also conducted academic mobility in Internal Medicine at Avicenna Tajik State Medical University of the Republic of Tajikistan. The Department’s staff actively participate in organizing and conducting international scientific and practical conferences, seminars, and academic olympiads. Within the academic mobility program, students, clinical residents, and master’s students participate monthly in educational activities with leading specialists in rheumatology and cardiology, including Doctor of Medical Sciences Vladimir Viktorovich Tsurko, Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation; Doctor of Medical Sciences Elena Amishevna Smirnova, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at Ryazan State Medical University, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation; and other specialists.
