Establishment of the Department

  Based on the decision of the Academic Council dated July 30, 2021, Protocol No. 11, and Order No. 655-AF of the Rector of the Institute dated July 20, 2021, the Department of Pharmacology was divided into the Department of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Technologies and the Department of Pharmacology.

  According to Order No. 529-K of the Rector of Samarkand State Medical Institute dated August 28, 2021, N.D. Kodirov, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Sciences, was appointed Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Technologies.

  The teaching of the disciplines “Pharmacognosy” and “Pharmaceutical Technologies” at Samarkand State Medical University has been carried out within the Department of Pharmacology since 2019.

  Due to the development of pharmaceutical education, the importance of these disciplines in the educational process, and their role in the training of specialists, there arose a need to establish an independent department.

  Head of the Department

  Nizomiddin Daminovich Kodirov graduated from the Faculty of Pediatrics of Samarkand State Medical Institute in 1997. In 1997–1998, he completed an internship in Pediatric Surgery at Samarkand Medical Institute.

  From 2005 to 2008, he studied in postgraduate education in the field of Pediatric Surgery at Samarkand Medical Institute. Since 2012, he has worked as an assistant lecturer at the Department of Pediatric Surgery.

  Since 2017, he has served as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Samarkand State Medical Institute and, concurrently, as an assistant at the Department of Pediatric Surgery.

  N.D. Kodirov has repeatedly participated in professional development courses and has also served as a member of the Academic Councils of the Faculty and the Institute.

  Faculty and Material and Technical Facilities of the Department

  Currently, the department has a teaching staff consisting of 10 trainee assistants and assistants.

  In order to organize the educational process in accordance with modern requirements, the university administration has established an educational laboratory equipped with modern laboratory instruments and equipment.

  The classrooms are provided with the necessary educational and visual materials, equipment, and teaching aids for the relevant disciplines. This enables students to consolidate their theoretical knowledge through practical classes.

  The department has a collection of teaching and methodological recommendations, educational manuals, textbooks, and other methodological materials prepared by the academic staff.

  In addition, the department’s educational and methodological fund includes textbooks, scientific literature, and scientific journals prepared by foreign scholars, which are used by academic staff and students in their educational and research activities.

  During 2021–2026, the department’s staff prepared and published 8 educational manuals, 1 monograph, and 28 methodological recommendations.

  Activities in the Master’s Degree Program

  The department also conducts scientific and methodological work with students enrolled in master’s degree programs.

  In the 2025–2026 academic year, 4 master’s students of the department successfully completed their studies. The master’s students completed their research projects in accordance with the established requirements, successfully passed their final attestation, and received the relevant diplomas.
