History of the department

    The Department of Faculty Therapy was organized in the 1932-1933 academic year. The department was located on the basis of the 1st clinical hospital in Samarkand. The first head of the department was A.M. Krasnopolsky, who dealt with the problems of gastroenterology.

    In 1935 - 1942, the department was headed by professor P.I. Denisova. Under her leadership, A. Zh. Dzhalalov defended his Ph.D. degree.

In 1942 - 1949, the department was headed by Professor T.S. Mnatsakanov. At the same time, Professor T.S. Mnatsakanov also served as dean and vice-rector of the institute. In 1949 - 1957, the department was headed by A.K. Odylov, who was the rector of the institute.

    In 1957 - 1986, the Department of Faculty Therapy was headed by the honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor N.A. Mirzayan. Under his leadership, 2 doctoral and 27 candidate dissertations were defended.

    In 1986-1996, the department was headed by honored Doctor of the Republic, Professor N.M. Kamalov. During these 10 years prof. N.M. Kamalov was the rector of the Samarkand Medical Institute. Under the leadership of N.M. Kamalov, 7 candidate's theses were defended. For the first time in Uzbekistan, the textbook “Internal Diseases” was published.

    1996 - 1997 academic years the department was headed by prof. F.S. Tadzhiev, and from 1997 to 1999, Professor G. Kh. Khaidarova.

    In 1999-2002, the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 was organized, which included Faculty Therapy. Head of the department Assoc. U.B.Samiev.

    In 2002, Faculty Therapy was again separated as an independent department under the leadership of Doctor of Medical Sciences. R.R. Sattarova and is located on the basis of the central hospital of GMO. Since 2005, the department was named “Faculty Therapy and Hematology”.

    From 2012 to the present, the head of the department is Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor G.Z. Shodikulova.

    Shodikulova Gulandom Zikriyaevna was born on January 6, 1976 in the Samarkand region. After graduating from high school, in 1993 she entered the Samarkand State Medical Institute of the Faculty of Medicine and successfully graduated After graduating the institute in 2002, she entered clinical residency at the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases and successfully completed her studies in 2004. After completing her residency, she entered the graduate school of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases of SamState Medical Institute and defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences. took place in 2008. From 2008 to 2012, assistant at the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases at Samarkand State Medical Institute. From 2012 to the present, head of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 3 of Samarkand State Medical University. In 2015, she received the title of Associate Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 3. In 2017 she defended her dissertation for the academic degree DSc. 2022, Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 3 of Samarkand State Medical University.

    Since 2013, the department has been named “Internal Diseases No. 3 and Endocrinology,” and since 2021 the department has been renamed “Internal Diseases No. 3.” 

    In 2020, under the leadership of Assoc. Shodikulova G.Z., assistant of the department Babamuradova Z.B. defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) on the topic: “The importance of phenotypic, genetic markers on the development, course and early diagnosis of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia.”, and in 2021, assistants U.S. Pulatov defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor Philosophy (PhD) on the topic: “The influence of haptoglobin phenotypes on the course and effectiveness of treatment of anemia in patients with rheumatoid arthritis” and Absalamov N.F. on the topic: “Optimization of the therapeutic and diagnostic approach to inflammatory periodontal diseases in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus”.

    In 2022, assistants Mirzaev O.V. defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) on the topic: “The prevalence and features of the course of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia on the example of Samarkand and Jizzakh regions” and Ergashova M.M. on the topic: “Features of the clinical course, diagnosis and treatment of secondary osteoarthritis in women with rheumatoid arthritis”.
