The research work of the Department of Internal Diseases, Faculty of Pediatrics, are focused on current issues in internal medicine, including: Differentiated approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatologic diseases; Clinical and immunological characteristics of bronchial asthma and chronic bronchitis; Genetic aspects of liver cirrhosis of viral etiology; Other pressing challenges in the field of internal medicine.

  All members of the department actively participate in the research activities of both the department and the university.In the 2025–2026 academic year, 10 teaching staff members were employed at the department. Of these, 1 staff member held the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences (DSc), 3 held the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and 6 had no academic degree. The scientific capacity of the department was 40%.

  The Head of the Department, DSc, Associate Professor Z.B. Babamuradova, successfully defended her Doctor of Medical Sciences dissertation entitled “A Differentiated Approach to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Rheumatologic Diseases.” Scientific supervisor: Professor G.Z. Shodikulova.

  G.R. Shodiyeva, a staff member of the Department of Internal Diseases of the Pediatric Faculty, successfully defended her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) dissertation in Medical Sciences entitled “The Contribution of Genetic Factors to the Progression of Viral Etiology Liver Cirrhosis and the Prediction of Antiviral Therapy Effectiveness.” Scientific supervisor: Doctor of Medical Sciences Sh.X. Ziyadullaev.

  A.A. Nasirova defended her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) dissertation in Medical Sciences at the Scientific Council of the Samarkand State Medical Institute on October 22, 2021, on the topic “Clinical and Immunological Features of Bronchial Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Their Combination.” Scientific supervisor: S.A. Bazarova, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Senior Research Fellow at the Tashkent Rehabilitation Center. On July 3, 2024, she was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor (Certificate No. 016029). Currently, she is conducting research toward the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences (DSc) on the topic “A Differentiated Approach to the Early Diagnosis, Therapy, and Medical Rehabilitation of Patients with Combined Broncho-Obstructive Syndromes.”

  Assistant F.I. Iskandarova successfully defended her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) dissertation in Medical Sciences on the topic “The Prognostic Significance of Matrix Metalloproteinase Gene Polymorphisms in Rheumatoid Arthritis.” Scientific supervisor: G.Z. Three members of the department are independent researchers and are actively engaged in scientific research in their respective fields:

1.  M.M. Turkmanov conducted a scientific seminar on June 19, 2026, as part of his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) dissertation in Medical Sciences on the topic: “Clinical Features of Osteoarthritis in Patients with Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Dysplasia.” Scientific supervisor: DSc Z.B. Babamuradova.
2.  B.U. Nizomov is conducting research toward a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Sciences on the topic: “Clinical and Pathogenetic Features of Lung Involvement in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Improvement of Treatment Approaches. Scientific supervisor: Associate Professor K.A. Islamova.
3.  G.Z. Muxitdinova is conducting research toward a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Sciences on the topic: “Clinical and Immunological Features of the Development of Renal Involvement in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.” Scientific supervisor: DSc Z.B. Babamuradova.

  Over the past five years, the department staff have published more than 350 scientific works, including 10 educational manuals, 6 monographs, and 30 software products. More than 270 scientific articles have been published in leading national and international journals.
