The scientific research conducted at the Department of Biochemistry is aimed at studying pressing problems of modern medical science, developing innovative approaches, and introducing them into education and practice. The research work is closely aligned with the real needs of the healthcare sector and the priority areas defined in state programs for the development of science and technology. Current research directions include: protection of maternal and child health, early detection, treatment, and prevention of diseases based on regional characteristics, the application of modern interactive methods in higher medical education, the creation of virtual laboratories, and their integration into the learning process.
In addition, the department’s activities are also directed towards educating the younger generation in the spirit of loyalty to the ideas of independence, while fostering their legal awareness and spiritual worldview. Students are actively involved in scientific research, which helps them develop professional competence, independent thinking, and civic responsibility. The department’s research serves to train highly qualified, patriotic specialists with modern knowledge by integrating education, science, and practice.
The department carries out its scientific activities based on memorandum agreements signed with the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy and the Institute of Parasitology.
Over the past four years, based on the results of research, the following candidate dissertations have been defended by the department’s teachers:
Fayzullaeva Kh. B. “Prognostic informativeness of clinical and laboratory indicators in newborns with asphyxia.”

Mamadaliyeva Z. R. — “Improving the methodology of teaching biochemistry in higher medical education institutions using virtual laboratories.”

Toshmurodov D. A. “Improvement for teaching methods of biochemistry in medical higher education institutions based on an integrative approaches.”

Usarov Gʻ. Kh. — “Fauna of sandflies (Diptera: Phlebotominae) in Central and Southern Uzbekistan and their epidemiological significance.”

All staff members of the department actively participate in the scientific research of both the department and the university. Currently, 8 staff members are independent researchers (Saidmurodova Z. A., Halimova S. A., Tolipova Sh. E., Nazarova M. E., Keldiyarova Sh. Kh., Murtazayeva N. K., Kim O. V., Nazarova G. Sh.), and 1 staff member (Akmedov A. S.) is simultaneously enrolled in the full-time doctoral program.
In the last 5 years, more than 200 scientific works have been published by the department staff, including 3 textbooks, 7 study guides, 8 monographs, 9 electronic programs, and over 100 articles in leading national and international journals.
