At the Department of Biochemistry, the student scientific circle “Young Biochemists” admitted 43 undergraduate students in the 2024–2025 academic year, all of whom actively and regularly participate in the meetings held at the department. Each student is assigned to a faculty member according to their area of interest and carries out scientific research under the “mentor-apprentice” tradition.
Meetings of the student scientific society were held every Saturday. During these sessions, students were introduced to the fundamentals of conducting scientific research: collecting, recording, and organizing primary documentation; preparing scientific articles and theses, their types and structural components; working with scientific literature; methods of gathering and processing materials; discussing and presenting research results; and the rules for publishing. Master classes were organized on these topics.
At the beginning of the academic year, the department’s faculty members, together with their assigned talented students, regularly conducted research activities, strictly following the mentor-apprentice principle. Faculty members also guided students in preparing theses and articles for submission to scientific-practical conferences at the national, CIS, and international levels, while sharing their own pedagogical expertise. The circle’s activities also included presentations, as well as explanations of case studies, patient management, and treatment principles. Each faculty member was assigned one student, monthly topics for the circle were prepared in advance, and illustrated minutes of each session were recorded.
The members of the department’s student scientific society actively participated in the International “Samarkand-2020” Olympiad for Students of Medical Higher Education Institutions, held at our university on December 16–17, 2024. A total of 20 students took part, earning 5 first-place diplomas, 6 second-place diplomas, and 9 third-place diplomas, while the remaining students received certificates in various nominations.
Furthermore, the members of our Student Scientific Society participated in the 79th International Scientific-Practical Conference of Students and Young Scientists of Medical Universities, organized at our university on May 15–16, 2025. In the conference proceedings, 30 research papers authored by 25 of our students were published, and 16 students presented their reports in the conference sessions. As a result, they were awarded 4 first-degree diplomas, 5 second-degree diplomas, and 7 third-degree diplomas.
