The Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics operates within the Samarkand Branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics, comprising the following units:

  I – Acute Injuries (40 beds);
  II – Acute Injuries (30 beds);
  III – Adult Orthopedics (55 beds);
  IV – Large Joint Orthopedics (20 beds);
  V – Spinal Injuries (20 beds);
  VI – Purulent Orthopedic Conditions (20 beds);
  VII – Pediatric Acute Injuries (20 beds);
  VIII – Maxillofacial Surgery and Neurotrauma (20 beds);
  IX – Medical Rehabilitation (20 beds);
  Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit (6 beds);

  The total bed capacity for traumatology and orthopedics is 260. As evidenced by these figures, the department's clinical base meets modern standards for training 3rd and 4th-year students and preparing master's degree candidates in the field of traumatology and orthopedics. Additionally, the facility includes a consultative outpatient clinic and X-ray departments. The department houses 11 classrooms and one lecture hall, occupying a total area of 340 square meters. Currently, the department conducts classes on Traumatology and Orthopedics—as well as Pediatric Traumatology and Orthopedics—for 3rd and 4th-year students from the faculties of Pediatrics, General Medicine, Traditional Medicine, Medical-Biological Affairs, and Medical Prophylaxis, based on the undergraduate curriculum.

  The modular system and modern interactive educational technologies are consistently employed in the teaching process.

  In the 2025–2026 academic year, seven first- and second-year master's residents specializing in traumatology and orthopedics are studying at the department. There are 23 clinical residents attached to the department. In addition to lectures, practical sessions, patient case management, analysis of medical histories, interpretation of radiographs and fluoroscopic findings, multimedia presentations on specific topics, postoperative care, dressing changes, and participation in surgeries, endoscopy, and radiographic procedures—as well as observing ultrasound examinations and interpreting complete blood counts and biochemical analyses—strict supervision is maintained over the students' participation in on-call duties. Educational films covering specific topics in traumatology and orthopedics are screened. Conditions have been created for students to participate extensively in surgeries. During the educational process, students took part in medical consultations for critically ill patients, discussions on pathological-anatomical findings, and clinical conferences. Practical sessions and lectures were conducted using the mt.sammu.uz e-learning system.

  The "mt.sammu.uz" e-learning system available at our university was developed by Prof. Rizayev Jasur Alimdjanovich and is being improved and updated annually. This led to improved quality of the distance learning process for students. All information related to the educational process on "mt.sammu.uz" is posted in Uzbek, Russian, and English, which improves student performance.

  At the department, 4th-year pediatrics, treatment, medical prevention, 3rd-year folk medicine, and 4th-year medical faculty students study under the "Traumatology and Orthopedics" program.

  The department has established the training of highly qualified specialists in master's and clinical residency programs.

  Training for each course and faculty is conducted according to the following approved documents:

  - Qualification characteristic;
  - State standard;
  - Curriculum;
  - Training work program;
  - Educational technologies include:
  - Changes in accordance with Order No. 80 of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
  - approved diagnostic standards;
  - international recommendations;
  - modern educational technologies (graphic organizers, case technology, and project method).

  During the training process, the following technical support is available:

  A telecommunication system has been created, thematic video films, presentations, multimedia programs, lectures, and practical classes are demonstrated using televisions connected to a central computer. There is a unified bank of scanned images designed for unified learning based on the curriculum and corresponding to all sections of the curriculum.

  Library Department:

• The library has over 70 educational materials in English, Uzbek, and Russian.
• The electronic library includes textbooks, atlases, teaching aids, teaching aids, and others.

  For students, an examination of patients in the operating rooms and departments of the RSNMCTO SF has been organized.
