Students of years 4 and 5 of the Faculty of General Medicine and years 4, 5, and 6 of the Faculty of International Education study at the department under the program of the discipline “Surgical Diseases” in accordance with the curriculum. The educational process is organized on the basis of the credit-module system and a competency-based approach, ensuring an inseparable link between theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

  The department provides training of highly qualified specialists in the fields of master's and clinical residency programs. Master's students and clinical residents actively participate in practical classes, case conferences, and scientific-methodological seminars, undergoing training according to individual work plans under the supervision of the department's faculty. Their knowledge and skills are monitored step by step, and their research activities are organized in accordance with the department's priority areas.

  Training for each course and faculty is conducted on the basis of the following approved documents:

– qualification characteristics;
– state standard;
– curriculum;
– working curriculum;
– rating assessment system and evaluation criteria for the discipline;

  The following components are included in educational technologies:

– amendments introduced under Order No. 80 of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
– approved diagnostic standards;
– international recommendations;
– modern educational technologies (graphic organizers, case-based technology, project method, brainstorming, small-group work, problem-based learning, and simulation training).

  The following technical resources are used in the educational process:

  A telecommunication system has been organized, through which thematic videos, presentations, multimedia programs, lectures, and practical classes are displayed via televisions connected to a central computer. There is a unified bank of scanned images intended for unified teaching based on the curriculum, covering all its sections. In addition, through the department's distance learning platform, students are provided online with educational and methodological materials, video lectures, and control tests, which expands opportunities for independent learning outside the classroom.

  To reinforce practical skills, simulation training, phantoms, and simulators are used, allowing students to gradually acquire practical skills in a safe environment. Monitoring and final assessment for each topic are conducted objectively, based on pre-developed criteria.

  Department Library:

• The library holds approximately 100 educational publications in English, Uzbek, and Russian.
• The electronic library includes textbooks, compilations, study guides, educational-methodological aids, and other materials.
• Students and faculty have access to international scientific databases (PubMed, Scopus, and other open scientific resources), which supports their research activities based on modern sources.

  For students, examination of relevant patients is organized in the surgical department, treatment rooms, and operating rooms, during which, under the supervision of experienced faculty, they take charge of patients and actively participate in daily rounds, case conferences, and clinical discussions. These practical classes help students develop clinical thinking, teamwork skills, and communication with patients.
