Samarkand State Medical University, guided by the objectives of internationalization and the University Development Concept, is focused on strengthening its position in the international educational space. The main priorities of internationalization include increasing the number of foreign students, developing joint projects with foreign universities and research centers, expanding the number of researchers and lecturers teaching abroad, as well as increasing the number of joint programs with foreign universities that provide the opportunity to obtain dual diplomas.
Samarkand State Medical University develops cooperation with more than 60 countries, international organizations, foreign universities, and research centers on the principles of equality. Partnerships with universities in Europe, Asia, North America, and the CIS countries contribute to the implementation of joint programs and academic mobility.
Every year, highly qualified specialists, professors, students, and researchers from abroad visit SamSMU to establish contacts, improve their skills, and participate in educational and scientific events. The university is open to cooperation with educational and scientific centers around the world, and its doors are always open to foreign applicants, students, postgraduate students, and teachers.

In 2022, the Head of the Department, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Aziza Nugmanovna Makhmudova, established cooperation within the framework of academic mobility with the Volga Region Medical Research University and Bashkir State Medical University.
In the same year, Lecturer of the Department, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Laylo Rakhmatullayevna Usmonova, also within the framework of academic mobility, established cooperation with the "Mariinskaya Outpatient Clinic" of the Saint Petersburg State Healthcare Institution.
In June 2023, Senior Lecturer of the Department Sh.F. Majidov successfully gave a presentation at the "Eurasian Forum – Yurta," organized by the Geopolitical Research Center "Berlek-Unity" in Ufa, Russia.
In 2024 and 2025, Professor A.N. Makhmudova participated in academic mobility at the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University in Turkestan, where she delivered lectures to students.
