Caring for the younger generation and striving to foster healthy, well-rounded individuals are hallmarks of the Uzbek national character. Consequently, spiritual and educational work constitutes a key area of activity for the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities. This work is conducted on an ongoing basis in accordance with an approved plan, with coordination and organization managed by the designated faculty member, D.B. Sabirova.

  Independence Day is widely celebrated annually in our Republic. On this day, faculty members of the Ophthalmology Department also conduct Independence Day-themed lessons for students. Students attend lectures on the topics "We Will Be Your Victim, Uzbekistan," "On Preserving the Memory of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Abduganievich Karimov," and "Ethnicity and Ethics of Higher Education Institutions," all dedicated to Uzbekistan's independence.

  Events and roundtables are held on the occasion of "Teacher's and Mentor's Day."

  Faculty members work with students:

• Introducing them to the works and speeches of President Sh.M. Mirziyoyev, decrees and resolutions of the Oliy Majlis and the Cabinet of Ministers, and conducting spiritual and educational work to cultivate a harmonious generation and enhance the national, national, and spiritual worldview of young people;
• Successful implementation and development of creative reforms in the Republic;
• Developing a healthy lifestyle philosophy in students;
• Improving students' political and legal awareness;
• Providing students with timely information on social, political, and creative events occurring in the world and in the country;
• Fostering a healthy spiritual atmosphere among students;
• Organizing students' free time in accordance with the educational institution's focus and specialization, and organizing various clubs.

  CURATORIAL WORK 

  Curatorial work is being carried out according to plan; no shortcomings, indifference, or disagreements have been identified in the spiritual, educational, outreach, and mentoring work carried out by the department's staff. In order to ensure compliance with the Rector's Order No. 861-A/F of the Samarkand State Medical Institute dated November 22, 2021, a list has been compiled for the assignment of fourth-year students of the Faculty of Pediatrics to assistant positions in the Department of Ophthalmology under the "teacher-student" system. Mentoring work in the department is being carried out in accordance with the plan approved by the institute. According to the plan, teaching assistants from the Department of Ophthalmology have been assigned as mentors for fourth-year students of the Faculty of Pediatrics. After classes, educational work is conducted several times, for example,

  The condition of students living in rented and self-occupied housing is being reported. In preparation for the winter season, gas stoves and heating appliances in student homes are being inspected. Information on possible cases of carbon monoxide poisoning is being provided.

  In addition, department staff members are visiting districts on a rotating basis to conduct surveys and workshops. They are visiting districts such as Kattakurgan, Urgut, Kushrabot, Okdaryo, Narpay, Pastdargom, and Bulungur and examining patients.

  Group discussions with students are also held during the holidays. All students are enrolled in online learning and participate in video conferences.

  The department staff is committed to continuing their spiritual and educational work.
