Educational and methodical work of the department

  The Department of Surgical Diseases is located in the surgery department of the hospital of Uzbekistan Republic Railways JSC Samarkand station, the number of beds in the field of surgery is 75. From the given number of beds it can be seen that the clinical base of the department meets the modern requirements for teaching 4th- and 6th-year students and for training masters in the field of surgery as well as clinical residents in the field of surgery. In addition, the hospital consists of a consultation polyclinic, ECG and X-ray rooms. The department has 11 classrooms, 1 laboratory room and 1 lecture hall. The total area occupied by the department is 350 sq.m. At present, at the department classes are held for 4th-year students of the Faculty of Pediatrics in the subject of surgical diseases, 6th-year students of the Faculty of Pediatrics in surgical diseases, 3rd–4th-year students of medical prevention, and 3rd-year students of folk medicine in the bachelor’s program of medical biology and surgery. In the educational process new interactive educational technologies are regularly applied.

  In the 2025–2026 academic year, at the department 1 third-year master resident in the field of surgery and 12 clinical residents studied. For the students lectures and practical classes, curation of patients, analysis of patients’ case histories, studying radiographs and radioscopic examinations, presentation of lectures in multimedia form for each topic, postoperative care of patients and changing dressings, as well as participation in operations, endoscopy and radiographic procedures, observation of ultrasound examinations, studying general blood and biochemical blood tests are conducted, and at the same time students’ participation in duty shifts is strictly controlled. Students report about the duty at the morning meeting. On some topics of surgery educational films are shown. Wide opportunities are created for students to participate in operations. In the educational process students also took part in consultations organized for severe patients, pathoanatomical discussions and clinical conferences. Practical classes and lectures were conducted using the electronic learning system Sammu.uz moodle.
