One of the priority areas of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 of Samarkand State Medical University is the development of educational, research, and clinical activities through international cooperation, as well as the expansion of professional relations with foreign higher medical education institutions and research centers. 

  Under the leadership of the Head of the Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor D.R. Khudoyarova, particular attention is paid to developing cooperation with foreign higher education institutions and research and academic centers. The main areas of international cooperation include academic mobility, professional exchange among academic staff, implementation of joint research projects, participation in international seminars and webinars, discussion of modern diagnostic and treatment methods, and integration of advanced pedagogical practices into the educational process.

  The Department has established scientific and academic cooperation with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Astana Medical University, Republic of Kazakhstan. Within the framework of this cooperation, academic mobility programs are being implemented, and the participation of international specialists in the Department’s educational activities is being facilitated. In particular, 36-hour teaching sessions, scientific and practical seminars, round-table discussions, and webinars were organized with the participation of PhD, Associate Professor L.K. Smailova from the Republic of Kazakhstan.

  During these activities, current issues in obstetrics and gynecology, approaches to the management of clinical cases, as well as modern diagnostic and treatment methods were discussed. Direct interaction between international specialists, faculty members, and students of the Department contributes to the integration of international experience into the educational process.

  The Department’s academic staff and master’s students also actively participate in the development of international academic cooperation. Over the past three academic years, as part of the academic mobility program, the Department’s master’s student Z.A. Shopulotova, together with the Head of the Department, D.R. Khudoyarova, participated in 18 hours of teaching sessions organized at the State Medical University of Tajikistan. During the visit, experience was exchanged in the organization of the educational process, teaching clinical disciplines, and developing practical skills.

  The Department also maintains regular academic and scientific cooperation with leading higher medical education institutions of the Russian Federation. On the initiative of the Head of the Department, D.R. Khudoyarova, and Professor N.I. Zokirova, seminars, webinars, round-table discussions, and master classes are regularly organized with the participation of Russian specialists in both online and offline formats. These activities serve as an important scientific and educational platform for studying international experience and exchanging views on modern clinical protocols and treatment strategies.

  In particular, within the framework of the cooperation memorandum with I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, faculty members and students of the Department participated in an academic mobility program. During the visit, the participants gained first-hand experience of the University’s clinical and educational facilities, as well as the activities of its modern simulation center in Moscow. Experience was exchanged in the areas of educational process organization, development of practical skills, application of simulation technologies, and improvement of clinical training. Representatives of Samarkand State Medical University also delivered lectures and conducted seminar sessions, contributing to mutual academic and pedagogical exchange.

  The Department’s international cooperation activities are not limited to educational initiatives and also encompass research activities. Particular attention is given to strengthening scientific interaction between the academic staff and international colleagues, preparing joint scientific publications and research projects, participating in international scientific conferences, and adopting modern research methodologies. The Department’s academic staff regularly participate in international and national scientific and practical conferences, congresses, seminars, and webinars. As a result of these activities, the scientific and professional competencies of the Department’s staff continue to improve, with more than 200 international certificates obtained. This indicator demonstrates the consistent development of the Department’s integration into the international educational and scientific community.

  To further enhance the scientific potential of the academic staff, the Department places particular emphasis on expanding participation in international grant competitions, educational programs, and research funding initiatives. In particular, efforts are being made to explore opportunities for cooperation with international organizations and educational foundations such as Erasmus+, GIZ, TIKA, JICA, KOICA, and KOFIH, participate in relevant projects, and expand opportunities for academic staff to take part in international professional development and continuing education programs.
