One of the devoted sons of our country, an outstanding pathophysiologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, who made a significant contribution to the development of the healthcare system and higher education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Atabay Avezovich Khusinov, passed away at the age of 92.
A.A. Khusinov was born on October 5, 1933, in the city of Khiva, Khorezm region. In 1956, he graduated with honors from the I.P. Pavlov Samarkand State Medical Institute.
From 1956 to 1959, he completed postgraduate studies at the Department of Pathological Physiology of the Samarkand State Medical Institute. In 1960, he successfully defended his Candidate of Medical Sciences dissertation, and in 1973 — his Doctoral dissertation. He was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in 1964 and Professor in 1976.
Alongside his scientific achievements, Professor A.A. Khusinov demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities. He served as Head of the Department of Pathological Physiology at the Samarkand State Medical Institute from 1976 to 1995 and again from 2001 to 2006. From 1995 to 2001, he headed the same department at the Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute. Between 2006 and 2016, he worked as a Professor at the Samarkand State Medical Institute, and from 2018 to 2023 — as a Professor at the Department of Pathological Physiology of the Urgench branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute.
Under Professor A.A. Khusinov’s supervision, 13 Candidate and 1 Doctoral dissertations were successfully defended. He authored 4 textbooks and more than 200 scientific and educational-methodological publications, many of which were published abroad, including in English.
For many years, A.A. Khusinov served as Scientific Secretary of the Samarkand State Medical Institute and actively participated in international congresses.
In recognition of his dedicated service and outstanding contributions, he was awarded Honorary Certificates of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Samarkand and Khorezm regions, the badge “Excellent Worker of Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” and the honorary academic title “Honored Professor” bestowed by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education.
The devotion, integrity, and humanity of Atabay Khusinov will forever remain in our hearts.
