Hystory of the Department
The urology department of the faculty Postgraduate Medical Education of the Samarkand State Medical Institute was organized on November 14, 2022 by order 616 AF of the Institute on the basis of the Department of Surgery, Endoscopy and Anesthesiology-Resuscitation of this faculty. Doctor of philosophy(PhD) in Medicine, Associate Professor Abdurakhmanov Farkhod Rakhmonovich was appointed Head of the course
SPIRITUAL AND EDUCATIONAL WORK
Resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Resolutions, Decrees and orders of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, orders of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, orders of the Rector of Samara State Medical University, as well as in commemoration of various holidays, anniversaries.
The purpose of activities in the field of spiritual, educational and upbringing activities is:
- promoting the formation and development of an independent worldview based on the synthesis of the great historical heritage of our ancestors and modern thinking;
- educating true patriots of their homeland;
- developing highly qualified specialists who value such qualities as humanism, kindness, purity and honesty, loving and respecting parents, the older generation.
- fighting against religious extremism, dogmatism, international terrorism;
- developing feelings of interethnic harmony, religious tolerance;
- cultivating love for the homeland, devotion to one's homeland, a sense of pride in one's country;
- formation of political culture and legal awareness;
- creation of conditions for full intellectual development;
- education of respect for universal values;
- formation of a healthy lifestyle; physical training of young people, creation of necessary conditions for their demonstration of their abilities in sports;
- increasing the interest of young people in music, drawing, literature, theater and other types of art;
- organizing the effective use of computer technologies and the Internet by students;
- work in cooperation with the information resource center of Samara State Medical University for the purpose of wide promotion of reading books.
Spiritual and educational work is carried out on the basis of an approved plan, according to which various events are held dedicated to historical dates, national holidays, sports competitions, etc. Various meetings are held with law enforcement agencies, spiritual centers and other partner organizations. To fulfill these tasks, the faculty has a supervisory board, the activities of which are carried out on the basis of an approved plan. Each group of the faculty is assigned a curator from among experienced teachers. Together with their curators, the cadets take an active part in mass events, hold cultural festivals, visit historical monuments and attractions of Samarkand, theaters and museums. Each curator has a work plan, on the basis of which he or she conducts various events with a group of cadets. The dean and deputy deans of the faculty regularly meet with the group curators and cadets. Every Thursday, classes begin with an working hour.
EDUCATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL-METHODOLOGICAL WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT
One of the main objectives of the urology course is educational work. Every doctor who has graduated from the university must undergo postgraduate training during the first three years. This is a modern requirement. Educational work at the department is carried out according to the curriculum approved by the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Medical Studies and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. For this purpose, a curriculum is developed annually based on topics devoted to current problems of surgery, and the educational process is carried out in accordance with this plan.
Currently, the department staff annually organizes field trips to neighboring regions, providing practical assistance to the local population in the implementation of the latest medical achievements in practice (Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Bukhara, Navoi, Khorezm and Jizzakh). These events also include practical workshops on current medical issues in collaboration with other specialists.
A professor from Istanbul Medical University was invited as a foreign teacher for the urology course on an hourly basis. On November 7, 2024, a master class was held at Samarkand State Medical University by a member of the European Association of Urologists and Andrologists, professor of Istanbul University Atesh Kadıoğlu for the employees of the departments of urology and surgery, endoscopy and anesthesiology and resuscitation of the FPDO. Atesh Kadıoğlu, who was attended by employees of the urology departments, as well as employees of the department and young urologists, answered all the guest's questions in detail. Also, a master class on uroandrology was held in the urology room of the surgical building of the university with the participation of Professor Atesh Kadıoğlu. As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on the implementation of a number of projects in the field of plastic surgery and uroandrology, as well as on the implementation of academic mobility programs for employees of the urology departments of the Samarkand State Medical University at Istanbul University. For your information, Prof. Ates Kadioğlu was the President of the Turkish Society of Andrology from 2002 to 2009 and the President of the Turkish Urology Association from 2008 to 2012. Currently, he is the Honorary President of the Turkish Society of Andrology, Head of the Department of Andrology at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, Vice President of the Turkish Urology Association, Coordinator of the Turkish Academy of Urology and Editor-in-Chief of the Turkish Journal of Urology.
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Since 2022, the Department of Urology has prepared more than 100 scientific articles, one monograph, a textbook, 5 methodological recommendations, 4 computer programs and 7 training programs. In 2025, the assistant of the department F. Abdurakhmonov was awarded the academic title of associate professor in the specialty "urology".
The scientific direction of the Department of Urology is devoted to the rehabilitation of joint injuries and their complications, erectile dysfunction, diagnosis and treatment of urolithiasis.
Of the published works, 2 articles and 7 abstracts were published in Scopus and Web of Science, 4 articles and 12 abstracts - in foreign publications and CIS publications, 4 articles and 12 abstracts - in republican publications.
During the year, the department staff took part in 3 international scientific conferences and received certificates.
Also, the citation of published materials and the Hersh index were determined for all employees of the department
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
The internationalist objectives of Samarkand State Medical University are based on the Concept of University Development and are aimed at strengthening its position in the international educational space. The main advantages of internationalization are an increase in the number of foreign students, development of joint projects with foreign universities and research centers, an increase in the number of researchers and teachers teaching at foreign universities, an increase in the number of joint programs with foreign universities that allow issuing two diplomas.
Samarkand State Medical University develops relations with more than 60 state and international organizations, foreign universities and research centers, participants in international cooperation in the field of education and science, based on the principle of equality. The development of cooperation and dialogue with universities in Europe, Asia, North America and the CIS is based on joint programs and educational mobility.
Every year, the number of highly qualified specialists, teachers, students and researchers from abroad visiting Samara State Technical University to establish cooperation, study, improve their qualifications and participate in scientific conferences increases.
Geography of cooperation: Associate Professor of the Department of Urology F. Abdurakhmanov, together with professors and teachers of Istanbul Medical University and Kazan State Medical University, takes part in long-term and short-term advanced training courses within the framework of scientific and practical cooperation. In addition, the results of his scientific work are published in prestigious international publications, and contacts and cooperation have been established with more than 10 higher education institutions and research centers in the near and far abroad:
