UTKUR BASIROVICH SAMIEV (1952 - 2022)

  The staff of Samarkand State Medical Institute suffered a great loss. We have lost Utkur Basirovich Samiev, a famous scientist, qualified and erudite teacher, competent physician, candidate of medical sciences (PhD) and associate professor of the department of propaedeutics of internal diseases. U.B.Samiev was born in the Khaimar village of Samarkand district in 1952. He worked as a senior preparator in Samarkand State Medical Institute from 1969 to 1970. In 1970 he entered the Medical Faculty of Samarkand State Medical Institute. Graduating with honors in 1976, he continued his studies in clinical residency. Since 1978, he began his practice as a therapist in Samarkand district medical association.

  Utkur Basirovich continued his postgraduate studies in 1980-1983. From 1983 to 1987 he worked at the institute as an assistant, and from 1987 to 1993 he worked as a deputy dean of the medical faculty.

  During 1993-1998 years U.B.Samiev worked as associate professor of the Department of Internal Medicine №1 of Samarkand State Medical Institute. Between 1998-2006, Utkur Basirovich was vice-rector for spirituality and education of the institute.

  From 2006 to 2011, Utkur Samiev had fruitfully worked as the head of the department of propaedeutics of internal diseases, and from 2011 to his last days had been teaching the younger generation - masters and bachelors students.

  After a successful defense of theses in 1986, U. B. Samiev published over 200 scientific papers, more than 15 textbooks, created 14 inventions and wrote 3 monographs. Under his supervision 2 candidate (PhD) dissertations were defended. As active scientific worker, he participated in many prestigious conferences in the Republic of Uzbekistan, CIS countries and Europe, and his achievements in the scientific field were marked with many diplomas and certificates of merit.

  During his work at the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine, U.B. Samiev made a worthy contribution to the treatment of cardiac patients in Clinic №1 of the Institute and was reputed as one of the best cardiologists.

  Associate Professor Utkur Samiev, as an experienced and versatile teacher with solid life experience and fundamental knowledge, made a worthy contribution to deepening the knowledge of students of the Institute. Thanks to his intelligence, humanity and empathy, he earned great and sincere respect among the public of the region and the city. Utkur Basirovich, as a loving father and family man, brought up his two children and created all conditions for their further development and their becoming worthy members of society.

  In 1989 he was awarded a badge “Gratitude on behalf of the Afghan people” for effective and faithful service in Afghanistan in 1979-1980. In 2001 he was awarded a badge of honor “10 Years of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and received Diplomas of honor of regional and city khokimiyats (eng. “local government”).

  Utkur Basirovich Samiev was a person loved and respected by people around him; as a mentor of future young doctors, he was a kind and excellent person. Light memory of U.B. Samiev will always remain in our hearts, and students and relatives of the Teacher will always keep bright memories of him.
