Research work of the department
The scientific research activities of the Department of Urology are aimed at addressing relevant issues of modern urology, as well as developing and improving innovative methods of diagnosis and treatment of urological diseases. Training highly qualified specialists and engaging young professionals in research work are defined as the department’s priority tasks. Particular attention is paid to fostering independent thinking, scientific outlook, and commitment to national values among students, clinical residents, and postgraduate trainees. These processes play an important role in the advancement of Uzbek urology and in its worthy representation within the international urological community.
During the period from 2024 to 2026, the Department achieved significant success in strengthening its scientific potential. In particular, one faculty member defended a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences (DSc), two faculty members were awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Sciences, and two staff members received the academic title of Associate Professor. These accomplishments testify to the high level of scientific competence of the teaching staff, the sustainable development of the Department’s scientific school, and the consistent efforts to support young researchers.
All faculty members of the Department are actively engaged in the research activities of both the Department and the University. At present, 4 faculty members: Bobokulov N.A., Allazov I.S., Iskandarov Yu.N. and Khurazov G.M. are independent researchers for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Sciences.
Over the past five years, the department’s staff have published more than 200 scientific works, including 4 textbooks, 5 study guides, 5 monographs, 1 handbook for physicians, as well as over 100 articles in leading national and international journals. In the 2025-2026 academic year, 8 scientific articles authored by the department’s staff were published in journals indexed in the Scopus database, including 4 articles in Q1 journals.
In 2024, Associate Professor Gafarov R.R. published a handbook for physicians entitled “Urological Psychosomatics” with the “GEOTAR-Media” publishing house, in collaboration with colleagues from Russia.

Head of the Department of Urology Davronov O.O. and Associate Professor Gafarov R.R. took part in the international professional development program held in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China, from September 1 to 30, 2025. The international training program was organized within the framework of the “One Belt - One Road” initiative and focused on the application of minimally invasive technologies in urology.
As part of this program, on September 11-12, 2025, the International Workshop on Sacral Neuromodulation was held in the Xuadu district of Guangzhou. The Head of the Department Davronov O.O. and Associate Professor Gafarov R.R. participated in the presidium of the workshop as invited international guests.
