The internationalization goals of Samarkand State Medical University (SamSMU) are based on the university's development concept aimed at strengthening its position in the international educational space. Key benefits of internationalization include an increase in the number of international students, the development of joint projects with foreign higher educational institutions and research centers, a growing number of teachers and researchers working in foreign organizations, and the expansion of double degree programs.

  Samarkand State Medical University is developing partnerships with more than 60 governmental and international organizations, foreign universities, and research centers. Cooperation with universities in Europe, Asia, North America, and the CIS, as well as the development of academic dialogue, are built on the basis of joint programs and academic mobility.

  Every year, there is a growing number of highly qualified foreign specialists, professors, students, and researchers visiting SamSMU for joint work, education, advanced training, and participation in scientific conferences. SamSMU is open to establishing contacts with educational and scientific centers, universities, and public organizations around the world, and the university's doors are always open to applicants, students, researchers, and teachers from abroad.

  Roadmap for international cooperation: the Department of Physiology of SamSMU maintains contacts and collaborates with more than 10 higher educational institutions and research centers in neighboring and distant foreign countries, including:

• Astana Medical University;
• Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University;
• Izhevsk State Medical Academy;
• Tajik State Medical University;
• Tajik Medical and Social Institute.

  Online classes are held at the listed universities and institutes. Teachers and students of the Department of Physiology take an active part in summer pedagogical schools and conferences, upon the completion of which they receive corresponding certificates and certificates of merit.

  During the academic year, the department's teachers organized online lectures on the Zoom platform for 1st and 2nd-year students of the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, where students actively participated in discussions and received comprehensive answers to their questions.

  In the 2025–2026 academic year, Professor Ibragim Agaevich Ishegov of the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of SamSMU.

  At a conference organized by the Izhevsk State Medical Academy, our students presented online reports on the topics: "Cardiovascular complications following coronavirus infection" and "Cardiovascular complications during local anesthesia in dentistry." They answered questions from the participants and received letters of appreciation from the conference organizers. The Department of Physiology of SamSMU, together with the departments of general professional and special disciplines of the Public Health Technical College and academic lyceums, regularly conducts master classes and open lessons on the topics: "Physiology of the Respiratory System," "Physiology of the Cardiovascular System," "Blood Physiology," and "Physiology of Higher Nervous Activity." Information about these events is regularly published on social media.
