Meetings on cooperation in the field of medical education at the residence of the Governor of St. Petersburg (RF)

      During the visit to the Russian Federation the delegation of the Samarkand State Medical University held a number of fruitful meetings in the northern capital of St. Petersburg.      

      A meeting of the delegation of Samarkand State Medical University led by the rector Jasur Rizayev with the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Oleg Ergashev was held at the Smolny state residence of the Governor of St. Petersburg. Dmitry Lisovets, chairman of the Health Committee, rector of the North-West State Medical University named after I.I.Mechnikov" Sergey Saiganov, vice-rector for academic lyceums and medical technical schools of Samarkand State Medical University Aziz Kubayev also took part in the meeting.

       At the meeting issues of cooperation between St. Petersburg in the field of healthcare and personnel training were discussed, in particular, the parties noted their readiness to increase the pace of interaction and further cooperation in the field of medical education between St. Petersburg and Samarkand.Vice-Governor O. Ergashev said that an innovative cluster of medical and pharmaceutical industry is successfully developing in the Northern Capital, its enterprises produce about 250 types of medicines, diagnostic and laboratory equipments, therapeutic medical equipment, software and databases for medical institutions, and St. Petersburg is interested in attracting Uzbek colleagues to the implementation of joint research and educational projects, discussing joint initiatives and proposals. 

       In negotiations with the rector of the North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov Sergey Saiganov and the delegation of Samarkand State Medical University also achieved agreement on the implementation of a set of measures to assist the Russian side in the transformation of medical colleges in the region.
