Samarkand State Medical University (until 2022 - institute) is the first medical university in Central Asia. Founded in 1930, the university has so far produced more than 40,000 highly qualified professionals, including dozens of academics, scientists, government and public figures. Graduates of SamSMU successfully work not only in the healthcare sector of the republic, but also successfully work in the specialty in the countries of near and far abroad.
On May 5-6, the II Forum of graduates of Samarkand State Medical University was held, aimed at uniting graduates of the university, effective use of their potential in the education of young medical personnel, exchange of accumulated positive experience. The celebration was attended by the rector's office, heads of departments, honored teachers and more than 1200 graduates of different years. Participation in the forum took place in a traditional and online format.
On May 6, at the grand opening of the Forum, the rector of the university, Professor Jasur Rizaev, spoke about the glorious history and the present SamSMU. The rector spoke in detail about the topical issues of the agenda facing the university staff priority tasks, measures taken to further improve the reputation and international rating of the university.
Speaking graduates of the university told about the time of study, their mentors, expressed gratitude for the conditions created for them to be representatives of the glorious and honorary profession of a doctor, noted the efforts of the modern leadership of the university in the training of highly qualified specialists for various fields of practical health care.
At the alumni forum, memorable gifts were presented to a group of honored teachers of the university. All graduates were awarded commemorative breast badges, and a number of graduates received commemorative medals "For fidelity to the profession," "For fidelity to the university," "For dynasties of doctors brought up in SamSMU" and "For the life of mothers." In particular, graduates of the university who founded well-known medical dynasties were especially noted, among them academicians I.Z. Zokirov, U.A. Aripov, professors U.K. Vakhobov, M.A. Akhmedov, A.M. Shamsiev and many others.
When honoring the graduates of 1963, 1965, 1966, 1973, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1984, 1988 and other years of graduation who took part in the solemn event, the significance of the meetings of the "three generations" in educating highly qualified medical specialists, transferring experience, knowledge and skills to future generations of a noble medical profession was noted.
At the end of the meeting, which opened a new chapter in the history of the university's interaction with graduates, a festive concert program took place, and the colorful performances of pop artists brought everyone a genuine festive mood.
