The department trains forensic medical personnel in the Samarkand region and neighboring areas through clinical residency and master's programs. The department's student scientific society is active. In recent years, members of the society have published over 40 articles in various collections, and they regularly participate in thematic conferences and seminars. Two of the society members won the Republican Olympiad in Forensic Medicine. Among the society's active members, candidates are selected for clinical residency, master's programs, doctoral programs, and ultimately for positions as assistant professors in the department.
Since July 2022, the Department of Forensic Medicine has been headed by Associate Professor Yakubov Munis Zakirovich.
In accordance with the qualification requirements set for them at the beginning of the academic year, the faculty of the Department of Forensic Medicine consistently build their work around the "teacher-student" principle and regularly conduct scientific research. They also work on preparing abstracts and articles for various scientific and practical conferences held in the republic, the CIS countries, and abroad, leveraging their teaching potential. Department staff actively organize presentations, examinations of living individuals, cadavers, and biological evidence on this topic. Each faculty member is assigned students, and topics for the monthly study group are prepared monthly, with illustrated reports prepared on each topic.

Department staff have presented papers at many prestigious conferences, including congresses, international conferences, and national conferences. Currently, the department's staff maintains and upholds the traditions of its renowned scholars and educators, continues to integrate scientific advances into judicial practice, trains qualified personnel, and makes significant contributions to the development of challenging areas of forensic medicine and medical law.
An online integration meeting (via Zoom) was held jointly with staff from the Department of Forensic Medicine at the Student Scientific Society of Samara State Medical University and faculty and students from the Department of Forensic Medicine and Medical Law at the Avicenna Tajik Medical University. The conference focused on the frequency, structure, and morphological changes in organs, focusing on the topic "Forensic Medical Examination in Sudden Death."
At the conclusion of the conference, students and their teachers posed and answered interesting questions. Six participants who actively participated in the conference were awarded diplomas.
The department 's scientific potential is 83%. Most of the department's faculty have completed internships or hold a master's degree and are currently part of the academic staff.
Department faculty conduct expert internships alongside their academic work. The skills and experience acquired during these internships are demonstrated and shared with students during their studies.
